Google is shutting down Firebase Studio
Google is sunsetting Firebase Studio (the successor to Project IDX). New workspace creation and signups were disabled on June 22, 2026, and the whole environment shuts down on March 22, 2027 — after which any project still inside it is permanently deleted. Google is redirecting users to Antigravity and Google AI Studio rather than carrying Firebase Studio forward.

Firebase Studio shuts down and all remaining data is permanently deleted on March 22, 2027 — no recovery
Google announced the Firebase Studio sunset on March 19, 2026. As of June 22, 2026, new workspace creation and user signups are disabled; existing workspaces stay accessible only so you can migrate out of them.
Firebase Studio shuts down completely on March 22, 2027, and all remaining data is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered. Google's recommended paths are Antigravity (its code-first agentic IDE) and Google AI Studio (browser prototyping, now with Cloud Firestore and Firebase Authentication built in). Core Firebase backend services — Firestore, Authentication, App Hosting — keep running; only the Firebase Studio development environment is closing.
- The Firebase Studio workspace itself — no new workspaces since June 22, 2026, and the entire environment is gone after March 22, 2027.
- Any project that lives only inside Firebase Studio: migrate it out before March 22, 2027 or it is permanently deleted with no recovery.
- The prompt-to-app workflow Firebase Studio users chose — Google's replacements (Antigravity, AI Studio) are different products with a different surface, not a drop-in continuation.
The vendor’s path: Migrate to Antigravity (code-first) or Google AI Studio (browser prototyping) before March 22, 2027. Core Firebase backend services keep running regardless of which you pick.

A browser-based full-stack builder with an agentic AI — the closest like-for-like to Firebase Studio's prompt-to-app workflow, and a directly mapped exit lane.
The same "describe it and it builds the app" loop in the browser that Firebase Studio users relied on, without committing to Google's next-gen replacements.
