Perplexity capabilities

Persistent personalization in Settings > Profile that applies across all conversations. Users can set self-introduction, preferred response format, tone, interests, goals, and language.

Individual threads can be shared via public link. Spaces support multi-user collaboration with viewer or contributor roles. Pages publish to a public URL.

Comet is Perplexity's Chromium-based AI web browser whose built-in assistant can autonomously take actions on web pages rather than only returning search results. You describe a goal in plain language and the agent navigates, reads pages across open tabs, and completes multi-step tasks: summarizing pages, comparing products, filling forms, adding items to a cart and hunting for coupons, finding flights, and drafting email. With connected accounts it can read and write Gmail and Google Calendar. Agent mode is free for any Perplexity account (including the free tier); the paid Max plan lets the user choose which AI model powers the agent and adds a background assistant that can multitask while you look away and ping you for approvals.

Native app connectors let Perplexity read from and act on third-party SaaS tools. Available connectors as of 2026 include Gmail, Google Calendar, Outlook, Notion, GitHub, Linear, Google Drive, OneDrive, SharePoint, Dropbox, Box, and Plaid (Personal Finance). A WhatsApp connector is sometimes reported but is not confirmed by Perplexity's official announcements.

Perplexity does not have a discrete 'GPTs'-style assistant builder; the closest equivalent is a Space configured with Custom Instructions, attached files, and a chosen default model. That combination acts as a reusable, sharable assistant.

Users can attach files to a query or to a Space. Supports text, code, PDF, Office docs, images, audio, and video. Limits vary by plan and surface (one-off thread upload vs Space repository).

All threads for signed-in users are saved to the Library, organized chronologically and searchable. Perplexity also has an opt-in cross-conversation Memory layer that synthesizes durable preferences and facts.

Threads export natively to PDF or Markdown. Pages (long-form polished articles) still publishes to a public URL, but as of early 2026 the direct 'Create a Page' button was retired pending a rebuild (you now reach Pages via 'Convert to Page' from a thread), and the standing complaint is that a published Page cannot be cleanly exported/moved out.

Six consumer/business SKUs: Free, Pro $20/mo, Max $200/mo, Education Pro $10/mo (verified students), Enterprise Pro $40/seat/mo, Enterprise Max $325/seat/mo. Higher tiers unlock more models, larger Space limits, more connectors, and agent (Comet/Computer) model selection.

Spaces are dedicated workspaces that group related threads, uploaded files, and custom instructions for a topic, project, or team. They replaced the older 'Collections' feature.

Core product. Modes include default Search, Pro Search (auto multi-step), Deep Research (long-running multi-pass), Labs (agentic, builds artifacts), plus optional focus filters (web, academic, social, finance, video).
