Poe capabilities

Poe uses a compute-points system where each bot response costs a variable number of points; users receive a pool of daily or monthly points based on their subscription tier, and can purchase add-on points separately.

Users can generate a shareable link to their entire chat conversation or selectively share specific messages, making it easy to distribute AI-generated content or collaborate with others who don't have a Poe account.

Bot creators can earn revenue from their published bots through two mechanisms: a per-message price users pay in compute points when messaging the bot, and a subscription referral model where creators earn when their bots drive new Poe subscriptions.

Any Poe user can create and publish custom AI bots. Six bot types are supported: Prompt Bots (custom system instructions on a base model), Server Bots (full programmatic control via a developer-hosted server), Script Bots (Python-based bots hosted on Poe), Canvas Apps (interactive web application UIs), API Bots (wrapping any model via Chat Completions or Responses API), and External Application integrations.

Poe exposes an OpenAI-compatible REST API allowing developers and third-party tools to query hundreds of AI models (text, image, video, audio) through a single endpoint using their Poe subscription points, with no separate per-model billing.

Users can upload files (documents and images) to Poe chats; bots configured to accept attachments will parse and reason over the file contents. Supported formats include PDF, DOCX, TXT, HTML, and images.

Poe supports shared group chat rooms where up to 200 human participants collaborate alongside AI models, with any participant able to @-mention any of 200+ text, image, video, and audio models.

Poe provides access to specialized generative media bots for image creation (e.g. Nano-Banana-2, GPT-Image-2, FLUX-2-Pro), video generation (e.g. Veo-3.1, Sora-2-Pro, Kling-v3-Pro), and audio synthesis — all via the same compute-points system. The specific bot lineup rotates frequently as new models ship.

Poe is available as native apps for iOS, Android, macOS, and Windows, in addition to the web app at poe.com, with chat history synced in real time across all devices.

Users can invite multiple AI bots into a single conversation thread by @-mentioning them, enabling side-by-side response comparison and multi-step workflows across different models without switching chat windows.

Poe provides access to hundreds of third-party AI models from multiple providers in a single interface, including models from Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, xAI, Meta, and others, as well as image, video, and audio generation models.

Every Poe bot displays a visual privacy shield indicator (full or half) showing how user chat data will be handled; users also control a cross-bot memory feature and can delete their account data at any time.

Poe surfaces real-time web search through dedicated Web-Search bots (e.g. Web-Search powered by Gemini 2.5 Flash-Lite) that can be @-mentioned in any conversation; the Poe Responses API also exposes a web_search_preview tool for developers.
