Move your team from Claude to Grok.

Both products offer a multi-step agentic research mode that decomposes a question, issues multiple web queries, reconciles conflicting sources, and returns a cited synthesis. On Claude, activate Research via the '+' menu in the composer (labeled 'Research', shows a blue indicator when active). On Grok, activate DeepSearch via the mode toggle on grok.com or the Grok app; DeeperSearch is a heavier variant that runs additional verification agents. To move a research workflow between the two: port your prompt verbatim (both accept plain-language research questions), note that Claude's Research also queries connected Connectors (Google Drive, Gmail, SharePoint) so replicate any document sources via Grok's file Collections or Grok Connectors (Notion, Google Workspace). Grok uniquely includes the X (Twitter) post firehose in DeepSearch, so real-time social-media signals are available without additional setup.

Both products allow building persistent, personalized assistant configurations that apply instructions automatically across sessions. On Claude, the primary vehicle is a Project (custom instructions + knowledge files + isolated chat history up to 200K-token context), supplemented by Skills (reusable capability packs) and Styles (format presets). On Grok, the equivalent is custom instructions (up to 12,000 characters in Settings) combined with Workspaces for context isolation and Skills (launched May 18, 2026) for reusable named capabilities. To migrate a Claude assistant: copy the Project instructions into Grok's custom instructions field; move knowledge files into a Grok Workspace and upload them to Collections; port any Claude Skills by exporting their CLAUDE.md/skill packs — Grok Skills explicitly support the Claude Code skill format. For team-wide deployment, Claude uses Team/Enterprise Projects; Grok uses Workspace sharing within a SuperGrok organization.

Both products accept document and image attachments directly in chat for analysis. On Claude, drag-drop or use the paperclip to attach files (PDF, DOCX, XLSX, CSV, TXT, JSON, images); for a persistent knowledge base, upload files to a Project so every chat in that Project inherits them. On Grok, attach files via the paperclip icon in chat (PDF, TXT, CSV, JSON, HTML, Excel, code files); for persistent access, use Grok Collections (grok.com/collections) to store documents up to 100 MB per file that Grok's attachment_search tool queries across sessions. To move a workflow: re-upload the same files on the destination side; no proprietary format conversion is needed for PDF, CSV, or TXT. For Excel/spreadsheet workflows, both support native .xlsx reading.

Both Claude and Grok can accept image inputs and reason over them — charts, screenshots, photographs, and handwritten documents. On Claude, attach images via the paperclip or drag-drop (JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP, up to 20 per message); Claude reasons over the image inline and the same thread can reference multiple images jointly. On Grok, attach images (JPEG, PNG only, up to 20 MiB) via the paperclip in chat; Grok's vision is backed by native multimodal capability in the Grok 4.x model family including video input. To move an image-analysis workflow: re-attach the same source images in the destination product; prompts and analysis instructions carry over verbatim. If you have a batch of images processed via Claude's API (vision requests), replicate the same calls against the Grok API model (grok-4.3 or grok-4.20) which also accepts image_url or base64 in messages.

Both Claude and Grok maintain persistent memory that carries facts and preferences across conversations automatically. On Claude, toggle memory at Settings > Capabilities > Memory; you can view memory summaries, pause (keep existing memories without creating new ones), or fully reset memory. On Grok, memory is on by default; manage individual memory items or disable entirely under Settings > Data Controls. To move between products: neither currently exports a memory file, so reconstruct key preferences manually — open each product's memory settings, note the stored facts, and paste them as custom instructions on the new side so the new system is primed before organic memory accumulates. Projects/Workspaces in both tools provide isolated memory spaces if you want to separate contexts.

Both Claude and Grok support real-time spoken conversations on mobile (iOS and Android). On Claude, tap the sound-wave icon in the composer to enter voice mode; voice conversations count against regular plan usage limits and support multiple selectable voice options plus multilingual input. On Grok, activate voice mode through the Grok app microphone button; Grok's voice session also lets you point your camera at objects for live visual analysis during the conversation. To switch: no data portability step is needed because voice sessions are ephemeral (no export format). Re-establish any language preferences under each app's settings. Developers migrating voice integrations should note that Grok ships a WebSocket Voice Agent API (grok-voice-think-fast-1.0), while Claude's voice is a consumer-only interface with no direct real-time voice API equivalent.
