For one-off single-document questions, attaching the PDF directly to a normal chat is the lighter-weight equivalent.
- Warning: Claude Projects exist on free accounts (capped at five projects), but the enhanced project-knowledge retrieval (RAG) that makes 'chat across my whole corpus' work well is limited to paid plans (Pro, Max, Team, Enterprise); a Project also has a finite context window, whereas PDF.ai markets much larger upload allowances, so a very large PDF corpus may not fit a single Project.
