Move your team from Gamma to Canva Magic Studio.
Each person gets a short interview, then a personalized step-by-step guide showing exactly where their saved work, prompts, and projects land in Canva Magic Studio — and the few things that need a manual step, walked through. You send one invite; nobody becomes the help desk, and nothing in Gamma is changed or cancelled. Want to see where you’re paying for both first? Run the free audit.
Both tools generate images from text prompts that are placed directly inside the presentation or design canvas. In Canva, open the editor sidebar, select the AI Image or Photo Generator option (or use the Canva Assistant), enter a prompt, and the generated image appears as a drag-and-drop element on the canvas; Magic Background can also replace slide backgrounds. In Gamma, type /ai inside any card or click Insert Toolbar > AI Image, enter a prompt, optionally select a style preset (photography, claymation, watercolor, isometric, pixel art, etc.), and the image is inserted into the card. To match visual style across tools: screenshot the desired style from one tool, describe it explicitly in the prompt on the other tool, or use Gamma's AI Image Style Keywords (set globally in the Theme Editor) to maintain consistency across a deck. Neither tool allows direct image export between platforms; re-generate or download images individually and re-upload them.
- Warning: Gamma charges 10 credits per AI image prompt across all plans; Canva draws from a shared monthly AI allowance (Free gets a small allowance; Pro/Business get a larger shared pool). Heavy image workflows will deplete Gamma credits faster than equivalent Canva usage on paid plans.
- Warning: Canva supports video and 3D content generation (Video Generator, 3D Content Generator) in addition to images; Gamma has no video or 3D generation capability — teams relying on Canva video tools have no Gamma equivalent.
- Warning: Gamma's Ultra plan unlocks higher-quality Ultra image models; Canva similarly gates its highest-quality AI models (Ultra tier) behind larger AI allowance plans. Both tools' free-tier image quality is limited.
Canva's Magic Write and Gamma's Gamma Agent both let users generate and refine copy inside their respective editors using natural-language prompts. In Canva, open any design or Doc, press / or open the Canva Assistant panel, and use Magic Write to draft, expand, rewrite, or summarise text blocks. In Gamma, press CTRL+E (Windows) or CMD+E (Mac) to open the Gamma Agent panel, then type instructions like 'rewrite the intro card to be more concise' or 'change the tone to formal across all slides'; Agent applies changes deck-wide. When moving a workflow from Canva to Gamma: copy the final body text out of Canva Docs or designs, paste it into a new Gamma document using the Paste creation mode, then use the Gamma Agent to further refine or reformat. In the reverse direction, copy Gamma card content, paste it into a Canva Doc, and use Magic Write to restyle or expand.
- Warning: Magic Write is limited to 25 queries per month on the Free plan; Gamma Agent batch editing across multiple cards is implied to require a Pro-tier account, though exact gating is not fully documented.
- Warning: Magic Write operates on individual text blocks; Gamma Agent can batch-apply tone and style instructions across all cards in a deck simultaneously — this cross-card capability has no direct equivalent in Magic Write.
- Warning: Canva Magic Write is powered by OpenAI; Gamma Agent uses its own AI stack with web-research capability (cited sources) — output style and citation handling will differ.
Canva Brand Kits and Gamma Themes serve the same purpose: enforce a consistent visual identity across all team content. In Canva, admins configure the Brand Kit (logos, fonts, colours, locked templates) under Settings > Brand Kit; Canva AI then generates on-brand designs automatically when a Brand Kit is active. In Gamma, the equivalent is the Theme Editor (accessed via the three-dot menu > Edit Theme on any gamma) — set brand colours, typography (including custom uploaded fonts), logo placement in headers/footers, card styles, and AI Image Style Keywords so AI-generated visuals stay on-brand. To migrate brand identity from Canva to Gamma: note the hex colour values and font names from your Canva Brand Kit, upload the same fonts in Gamma's Theme Editor (font files required), enter the hex codes as brand colours, upload the logo, and save as the workspace default theme. Gamma themes automatically apply to all new gammas in the workspace. The reverse (Gamma to Canva) follows the same manual re-entry process.
- Warning: Canva Brand Kit (including logo upload) is available from the Pro plan; Gamma logo placement in headers/footers is gated to Pro users — Free users on either tool cannot enforce the full brand identity.
- Warning: Canva supports multi-brand kit management on the Business plan; Gamma workspaces share a single active default theme, so teams with multiple sub-brands need separate Gamma workspaces.
- Warning: Gamma cannot import themes from Canva files — only from existing PowerPoint or Google Drive files — so brand transfer is always a manual re-entry process.
Both tools let teams produce multiple output formats from the same content — presentations, documents, social posts — without starting from scratch each time. In Canva, use Magic Resize (available from Pro) to convert an existing design to a different canvas size (e.g. a presentation slide to an Instagram graphic or LinkedIn banner) in one click; Bulk Create extends this to apply the resize across many designs simultaneously. In Gamma, a single creation flow offers four format choices upfront — presentation deck, scrollable document, multi-page website, or social post (LinkedIn/Instagram) — so format switching happens at the planning stage rather than post-creation. To repurpose content from Canva to Gamma in a new format: export the Canva design as PPTX or PDF, then import into Gamma (Import mode) and select the target format (document, website). To repurpose a Gamma deck for Canva: export as PPTX, open in Canva, then use Magic Resize to reformat for social or other channels.
- Warning: Canva Magic Resize is gated to Pro and above — Free users cannot resize designs. Gamma's multi-format creation is available on all plans including Free.
- Warning: Gamma's 'multi-format' means choosing a different output type at creation time (deck vs. doc vs. website vs. social); it does not offer the pixel-level canvas resize and bleed control that Canva Magic Resize provides for print or social-specific dimensions.
- Warning: Gamma can publish directly as a live website with analytics and a gamma.site subdomain; Canva has no equivalent one-click 'publish as website' feature — this capability is unique to Gamma and has no migration path into Canva.
Both tools generate complete, editable presentations from a text prompt. In Canva Magic, open the editor and use the Canva Assistant button (bottom-right) or the / shortcut, type your topic, and AI generates a full presentation with slides, layouts, and imagery using the Magic Studio toolset. In Gamma, click New > Generate, enter the same topic, optionally edit the AI-proposed outline in Advanced Mode, then click Generate — Gamma produces a card-based deck ready to edit. To migrate an existing Canva deck to Gamma, export the Canva file as a PPTX, then use Gamma's Import flow (New > Import > Upload File) to convert it. To migrate a Gamma deck into Canva, export the Gamma deck as PPTX and open it in Canva (Canva supports PPTX import via the editor upload). In both directions, AI-generated images and layouts will need manual cleanup since style conventions differ significantly.
- Warning: Canva's Free plan includes a limited AI allowance (shared across all AI tools); Gamma's Free plan gives 400 credits total (40 credits per AI-generated deck), so power users burn through credits faster on Gamma.
- Warning: Canva generates designs inside its own proprietary canvas; exports to PPTX may lose some effects (gradients, AI-generated layers) that Gamma's card-based renderer also cannot reproduce perfectly.
- Warning: Gamma's Advanced Mode outline editor lets users steer the structure before generation; Canva has no equivalent pre-generation outline step, so structure control is only available through post-generation editing.
Both Canva and Gamma support real-time multi-user editing with comments and sharing controls. In Canva, share a design via the Share button (top-right), invite teammates by email or generate a link, and choose view/comment/edit permissions; all plans support live co-editing with visible cursors and in-canvas @mention comments. In Gamma, click Share on any gamma, add collaborators by email or link, and assign No Access / View / Comment / Edit roles. Workspace members automatically get access to all gammas in the workspace. To hand off a project from Canva to Gamma: export the Canva design as PPTX, import it into Gamma, and re-invite collaborators using their existing email addresses. Comment history from Canva does not transfer and must be manually summarised or archived before switching. In the reverse direction, export Gamma as PPTX and re-share in Canva.
- Warning: Canva Business and Enterprise plans add approval workflows (designs require sign-off before publishing); Gamma has no equivalent approval gate — reviews must be managed via comments and external process.
- Warning: Gamma's Teams plan adds shared folders and admin controls; Gamma's Business plan adds SSO — features that align with Canva Enterprise. The plans are not price-equivalent, so compare plan tiers carefully before migrating a large team.
- Warning: Canva Enterprise provides an org-wide admin dashboard with granular permission layers and folder management; Gamma's workspace-level permissions override individual sharing settings, which can expose content to all workspace members unintentionally.
