Both products expose REST APIs for programmatic image generation; migrating between them is primarily an endpoint and auth swap. Flux API: obtain a BFL API key from bfl.ai, send POST requests to BFL endpoints with model, prompt, and optional image inputs, pay per image generated. Krea API: obtain a Bearer token from the Krea dashboard, send POST requests to Krea's API with model selection (covering 40+ models including Flux), pay per generation with dollar-denominated billing. To move from Flux API to Krea API: replace BFL base URL and API key header with Krea's Bearer header; update the model field (e.g. 'flux-1.1-pro' → Krea's model id for Flux); add optional webhook by passing X-Webhook-URL header. To move from Krea API to Flux API: extract the model being used in Krea calls; if it is Flux-family, switch to BFL endpoint directly (lower latency, no aggregation layer). Krea also offers a no-code visual node editor to chain models into workflow pipelines that themselves become API endpoints—no Flux equivalent.
- Warning: Flux offers an MCP connector for use in Claude, Cursor, and compatible AI coding tools; Krea's API has no MCP connector as of last verification.
- Warning: Krea bills per generation; failed or cancelled jobs are not charged. BFL also charges per image. However, BFL has no subscription requirement, while Krea's full API feature set may require a paid Krea plan.

Flux's image editing (FLUX.2 / FLUX.1 Kontext) takes an uploaded image plus a text instruction and returns an edited version — useful for batch, API-driven edits. Krea's realtime canvas is the interactive equivalent: upload an image onto the canvas and steer AI edits with a prompt in real time (output updates in ~50ms without a render queue). Moving from Flux to Krea for iterative editing: upload your source image to Krea's canvas, select the 'Edit Fast' or 'Flux Realtime Quality' realtime model, and type the same instruction prompt you used in Flux — Krea will apply changes live. Moving from Krea to Flux for batch/API editing: export the Krea-edited image, then call the BFL API with image-editing mode supplying the base64 image and your prompt programmatically. Flux's in-context editing supports up to 10 reference images per request, which has no direct Krea realtime equivalent for batch reference stacking.

Flux's outpainting and object-removal endpoints extend or clean up images via API (FLUX Tools). Krea's Enhancer is the counterpart for post-generation refinement: it sharpens, upscales (1x–8x), and reconstructs detail. Teams using Flux for object removal can export the result and pass it through Krea's Enhancer to recover resolution before final delivery. Teams replacing Krea upscaling with Flux: use Flux's outpainting endpoint to extend canvas borders, and use its object-removal endpoint to erase unwanted elements—these fill in region content coherently without a prompt needed. To move from Flux outpainting to Krea: download the Flux-generated image, upload to Krea Enhance, pick a scale (2x or 4x typical), describe the desired detail in the prompt (Krea guidance: describe the final image, not the change), and export. To move from Krea Enhance to Flux: use Flux API outpainting endpoint for border extension or FLUX Tools for inpainting to fill removed regions.
- Warning: Krea Enhancer upscales resolution up to 22K (Topaz model, Max/Business plan); Flux has no native upscaling endpoint—it reconstructs regions during outpainting or removal but does not offer a standalone resolution multiplier.
- Warning: Krea's upscale ceiling is plan-gated: approximately 2K on Free, 4K on Basic, 8K on Pro, 22K on Max/Business; migrating from Flux to Krea Enhance for high-res output requires at minimum a Pro plan.
- Warning: Flux outpainting requires no text prompt and infers continuation from existing content; Krea Enhance prompting is framed around the final image state—teams must rephrase Flux-style region instructions into goal-state descriptions.
Flux enables reference-guided generation via API: supply up to 10 reference images (as URLs or base64) alongside a text prompt in a single FLUX.2 request, and the model preserves character identity, lighting style, or brand aesthetics across outputs. Krea's realtime canvas covers a subset of this use-case interactively: upload a reference image onto the canvas and steer style/content with a prompt; the output updates live in ~50ms. Moving from Flux multi-reference to Krea realtime: extract your primary reference image, upload it to the Krea canvas, pick the 'Flux Realtime Quality' 1024px model for closest parity, and refine with the prompt. For multi-reference batch jobs with more than one input image, Krea realtime does not replicate Flux's 10-image stacking—this workflow is Flux-only. Moving from Krea realtime reference-sketching to Flux: export a reference frame from Krea, then call the BFL API with that image plus additional reference images to produce consistent outputs at scale.
- Warning: Flux accepts up to 10 reference images in a single API call for multi-image consistency; Krea realtime works with one canvas image at a time—there is no multi-reference stacking in Krea's interactive tools.
- Warning: Krea's realtime models are capped at 1024px in the Quality tier; Flux FLUX.2 Max and FLUX.1 Pro Ultra produce higher-resolution reference-consistent outputs.
- Warning: Flux multi-reference is an API-only feature; teams that rely on a no-code UI for reference-guided generation will find Krea's canvas the only interactive option, but it does not match Flux's reference-stacking depth.
Both products produce images from text prompts at comparable quality tiers. On Flux, choose a model tier (FLUX.2 for standard, FLUX.2 Max for top-quality, FLUX.1 Pro Ultra for up to 4MP) and submit via API or the browser playground. On Krea, open the Generate panel, select a model from 64+ options (Krea 2 for first-party quality, or Flux itself as one of Krea's hosted models), choose a style preset from 1000+ options, and generate. Teams moving from Flux API to Krea API: replace BFL endpoints with Krea's REST API using Bearer-token auth; Krea hosts Flux natively so prompts that worked on Flux can be routed through Krea's Flux endpoint with minimal changes. Teams moving from Krea to Flux direct: export Krea images and note which Krea model produced them; map Krea 2 → FLUX.2 or FLUX.2 Max for closest parity; switch to BFL API keys and replicate prompts.
- Warning: Flux offers pay-as-you-go API pricing per image with no seat fee; Krea's API bills per generation too, but the platform also requires a subscription plan for UI access—costs differ if your team mixes API and UI usage.
- Warning: Krea hosts Flux models internally, so a Krea 'Flux' generation goes through Krea's infrastructure, not BFL's directly; fine-tuned custom Flux weights you trained via BFL cannot be loaded into Krea's UI.
- Warning: Flux FLUX.1 Pro Ultra supports up to 4MP resolution; Krea's native 4K output is comparable but model-dependent—not every Krea model reaches 4MP equivalent.
