Clipdrop Uncrop and Photoroom AI Backgrounds both use generative AI to fill canvas space beyond an image's original borders, though they approach it differently. Clipdrop Uncrop (clipdrop.co/uncrop) expands a specific image into a new target aspect ratio by outpainting the added canvas area. Photoroom AI Backgrounds takes a cut-out subject and generates a complete new backdrop — effectively replacing the background rather than extending the existing one. To migrate a content-reframing workflow from Clipdrop to Photoroom: remove the background in Photoroom first, then use AI Backgrounds with a prompt that matches the original scene context, selecting an output aspect ratio matching the Uncrop target.
