To move from D-ID to Synthesia: export any finished MP4s from D-ID Creative Reality Studio for archival (they do not transfer), then recreate projects in the Synthesia Editor — paste your script per scene, pick a stock avatar and voice, and hit Generate. Both platforms let you build a digital double of your own face that can deliver any script. To move from D-ID to Synthesia: download any existing avatar videos for archival (trained avatar models do not export); re-create your personal avatar in Synthesia by recording 1-5 minutes of footage via webcam reading the on-screen prompts, then submit the consent recording — your avatar is ready in roughly one business day. Synthesia will clone your voice automatically during the same flow. To move from Synthesia to D-ID: export avatar videos you want to keep, then on D-ID choose Personal Avatars and upload a short video clip (Express tier: 1-min video with voice cloning; Premium+: 3-min, high-fidelity). D-ID photo-based avatars (Standard tier) are created from a single image with no recording needed, making them the fastest option if you only need lip-sync rather than full body animation.

Both D-ID and Synthesia expose REST APIs for generating avatar videos programmatically. D-ID's API uses HTTP Basic auth with an API key from Studio account settings and supports multiple avatar tiers (V2, V3, V4, Agents, Video Translate) plus real-time streaming for live conversational use cases. Synthesia's API is available on the Creator plan and above, and generates videos using the same script-plus-avatar model as the web editor. To migrate from D-ID API to Synthesia API: swap your D-ID avatar image + audio payload for a Synthesia API call that references an avatarId and a script string; retrieve avatarId values from the Synthesia avatar library endpoint. To migrate from Synthesia API to D-ID: obtain an API key from D-ID Studio settings, then call the /talks or /clips endpoint with an image URL and either text (TTS) or audio. Both platforms produce MP4 output for use outside the platform, but the available export formats and plan requirements differ. D-ID Creative Reality Studio exports rendered clips as MP4; videos can be downloaded directly from the Studio once rendered. Synthesia exports MP4 at Full HD 1080p plus additional formats: .wav (audio only), .srt and .vtt (captions), and .xliff (translation files). To move an output workflow from D-ID to Synthesia: re-create your videos in Synthesia's editor, then use the Download button on each video; if you need captions, download the .srt or .vtt file alongside the MP4 rather than burning them into the video in D-ID. To move from Synthesia to D-ID: download Synthesia MP4s and audio files for archival before cancelling; recreate in D-ID Studio if ongoing production is needed.
