Move your team from Clearscope to MarketMuse.
Each person gets a short interview, then a personalized step-by-step guide showing exactly where their saved work, prompts, and projects land in MarketMuse — and the few things that need a manual step, walked through. You send one invite; nobody becomes the help desk, and nothing in Clearscope is changed or cancelled. Want to see where you’re paying for both first? Run the free audit.
Clearscope's Write feature generates AI first drafts inside the editor, informed by top-ranking pages and term data for the target keyword. MarketMuse's content briefs generate research-backed outlines (nine brief types: Article, News, Local, Comparison, FAQ, How-to, Product Review, Listicle, Guide) that writers use to produce content; the Optimize brief type also includes generative AI section suggestions. To migrate from Clearscope to MarketMuse: instead of generating a full draft in Clearscope, request an Article brief (or relevant type) in MarketMuse for the same keyword — the brief's outline, required subtopics, questions, and suggested facts replace the Clearscope draft as the writer's starting point. Briefs export to Google Docs or Microsoft Word, so existing content workflows can continue. To migrate from MarketMuse to Clearscope: take the outline from a MarketMuse brief, paste it into the Clearscope editor as a working document, then use Clearscope's Write feature to expand sections into a full draft while the editor grades term coverage in real time.
- Warning: Clearscope's AI drafts are metered (20/month on Essentials and Business, custom on Enterprise; add-ons available at $20–$50 per increment); MarketMuse briefs are similarly metered (5/month on Optimize, 10 on Research, 20 on Strategy) and only Article briefs are available below Strategy tier.
- Warning: MarketMuse's Free plan includes no briefs at all; teams switching from Clearscope's Essentials plan ($129/mo) need at minimum MarketMuse's Optimize plan ($149/mo) to access any brief generation.
- Warning: Brief customisation is more extensive in MarketMuse (point of view, expertise level, tone, buyer journey stage, fact statements) than Clearscope's draft generation, which has minimal configuration options — teams used to structured briefs may find Clearscope's output less editorially controlled.
Both tools analyse top-ranking pages for a target keyword and return in-editor recommendations to improve content coverage. In Clearscope, open the Reports view, create a report for the target keyword, and work inside the collaborative editor where term suggestions are graded A–F in real time. In MarketMuse, open the Optimize brief for the same keyword inside the MarketMuse web app; the editor scores the page and surfaces missing subtopics, recommended word-count, and quality signals alongside generative AI suggestions. To migrate from Clearscope to MarketMuse: export your existing Clearscope report term lists (copy the suggested terms), then run an Optimize brief in MarketMuse for the same keyword to get the MarketMuse topic model's recommendations — cross-reference the two lists and prioritise the union of required terms. In the opposite direction, pull an Optimize brief from MarketMuse and recreate a Clearscope report for the same keyword, then paste or retype your existing content into the Clearscope editor to get the graded term checklist. Content itself is not exportable between the two tools; only the keyword input and the resulting recommendations transfer.
- Warning: Clearscope grades content A–F on term density; MarketMuse scores on topical depth and subtopic coverage — the same piece of content may grade differently in each tool even after optimising for one.
- Warning: MarketMuse query limits apply by plan (10/month Free, 100/month Optimize); Clearscope uses page slots (50 on Essentials, 300 on Business). Heavy usage teams may exhaust MarketMuse query credits before their billing cycle resets.
- Warning: MarketMuse's generative AI content suggestions are included in the Optimize brief; Clearscope's AI drafting (Write feature) is a separate metered add-on (20 drafts/month on Essentials and Business), so the drafting cost structure differs.
Clearscope's Protect feature provides ranking-trend and traffic dashboards at site-wide and page-level views, letting teams monitor which pages are losing or holding positions. MarketMuse's site inventory crawls the connected domain and maps every page to the topic model, flagging coverage gaps, underperforming pages, and pages to update rather than replace. To migrate from Clearscope to MarketMuse: connect your domain in the MarketMuse web app so the site inventory crawls it; the inventory takes the place of Clearscope's page-level performance view, though the signals are topical coverage rather than traffic/ranking trends. Pair MarketMuse's inventory with Google Search Console for ranking data (MarketMuse does not pull ranking data natively). To migrate from MarketMuse to Clearscope: export or note the list of pages MarketMuse flags as underperforming, then add those URLs to Clearscope's Protect dashboard as tracked pages to monitor ranking and traffic signals over time.
- Warning: Clearscope's Protect dashboard tracks ranking and traffic signals; MarketMuse's site inventory tracks topical coverage and content quality — neither fully replaces the other's signal type, so teams tracking both rankings and coverage may need to supplement with Google Search Console regardless.
- Warning: Clearscope's Protect feature is limited by page slots per plan (50 pages on Essentials, 300 on Business; add-ons at $15–$25/month per increment); MarketMuse's site inventory tracked-topic limits are plan-gated (none on Free, 100 on Optimize, 1,000 on Research, 10,000 on Strategy) — large sites may hit MarketMuse's limits faster.
- Warning: MarketMuse's Free plan has no site inventory; teams on Clearscope Essentials ($129/mo) need at minimum MarketMuse Optimize ($149/mo) to access any inventory-based tracking.
Clearscope surfaces search intent signals (query classification, question formats, subtopics users seek) alongside keyword data in the editor and topic views. MarketMuse approaches the same research goal through SERP X-Ray and SERP Heatmap tools that compare your content coverage against competitors and highlight unclaimed topic territory. To migrate from Clearscope to MarketMuse: take the seed keywords from your existing Clearscope reports, run SERP X-Ray in MarketMuse for the same keywords, and review the heatmap to identify which subtopics competitors cover that your site is missing — this replaces Clearscope's intent classification with a competitor-gap framing of the same research. To migrate from MarketMuse to Clearscope: for each gap topic identified in MarketMuse's SERP Heatmap, open a Clearscope Topic Exploration or report for that keyword to see the intent classification, question formats, and term requirements before creating content.
- Warning: Clearscope frames intent research around what searchers want (informational, commercial, navigational); MarketMuse frames the same research around what competitors cover and what is unclaimed — the outputs serve the same planning need but require different mental models.
- Warning: MarketMuse's SERP X-Ray and Heatmap tools are available on Free and all paid plans, but strategy documents that package gap findings (1/month on Optimize, 3 on Research, 5 on Strategy) are limited; Clearscope's intent data is included in all plan tiers with no separate credit.
- Warning: Neither tool provides keyword volume or CPC data natively — teams will still need a separate keyword research tool (e.g. Google Search Console, Ahrefs) regardless of which platform they use.
Both platforms help teams map topic clusters — groups of related content built around a seed keyword. In Clearscope, run a Topic Exploration from the Explore view; the platform maps subtopics and competitor content gaps for a seed keyword and presents a cluster view showing which topics to prioritise. In MarketMuse, use the Site Heatmap and Connect tools to visualise the existing site's content graph, then build a content plan or strategy document that maps out pillar pages, supporting pages, and internal linking recommendations. To migrate from Clearscope to MarketMuse: export or screenshot your Clearscope cluster maps (Topic Explorations have no dedicated export), then re-run the same seed keywords in MarketMuse's content planning view to get site-personalised cluster recommendations. MarketMuse adds authority-aware prioritisation based on your existing content inventory, which Clearscope does not provide. In the reverse direction, use Clearscope's Topic Explorations to generate fresh cluster ideas not yet reflected in MarketMuse's inventory, then add those topics to MarketMuse's tracked topics list.
- Warning: Clearscope's Topic Explorations are metered (20/month Essentials, 50/month Business); MarketMuse's cluster planning tools (Site Heatmap, Connect) are available on all paid plans with no separate exploration credit, but require a site inventory (not available on Free).
- Warning: MarketMuse cluster recommendations are personalised to your domain's authority; Clearscope cluster views are keyword-centric and show the same results regardless of domain, so switching tools will surface different prioritisation signals.
- Warning: Clearscope does not provide internal linking recommendations; MarketMuse surfaces these inside content briefs and strategy documents, so teams migrating to MarketMuse gain an additional workflow step.
