Both products embed an AI chat that lets users query their meeting history in natural language. Bluedot includes a built-in AI chat ('instant answers across meetings') accessible from the web app alongside searchable transcripts. Fathom's equivalent is Ask Fathom, which as of Fathom 3.0 is account-wide: individual users can search their own meeting library, and Team Edition users can search across the full team's meetings. Ask Fathom also integrates with ChatGPT and Claude via MCP so meeting knowledge is reachable without leaving those AI tools. To migrate from Bluedot to Fathom: begin using Ask Fathom from the Fathom web app or via the MCP integration in Claude/ChatGPT once new meetings have accumulated; historic Bluedot meetings are not importable and cannot be queried in Ask Fathom. To migrate from Fathom to Bluedot: use Bluedot's AI chat from the web app; cross-meeting search covers all meetings recorded in Bluedot.
- Warning: Ask Fathom's cross-meeting search on the Free plan is limited to the first 5 calls per month; Bluedot's AI chat plan-gating is not explicitly documented but the Free plan lifetime cap of 5 meetings limits the useful corpus regardless.
- Warning: Neither platform provides a migration export of the AI chat history or meeting knowledge base — switching tools means starting fresh with only new recordings.
- Warning: Fathom's MCP integration (ChatGPT and Claude) is available on all paid plans; Bluedot's MCP integration ('Connect Claude and other AI assistants') requires at least the Basic plan. Teams switching tools will need to update their MCP connector configuration.
Both Bluedot and Fathom capture meetings without sending a visible bot participant into the call. Bluedot achieves this via a Chrome extension (plus desktop and mobile apps) that records audio/video locally across Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, Webex, Slack huddles, and in-person calls. Fathom 3.0 achieves it via the redesigned desktop app, which adds a 'bot-free audio + transcript' mode and a 'bot-free transcript-only' mode selectable per meeting from the app tray or in-meeting panel. To migrate from Bluedot to Fathom: install the Fathom desktop app, connect the same calendar, set a default capture mode (bot-free audio or transcript-only), and uninstall the Bluedot Chrome extension. For the reverse (Fathom → Bluedot): install the Bluedot Chrome extension and/or desktop app, connect the same calendar, and disable the Fathom desktop app from auto-launching. Neither step requires re-connecting attendees or changing meeting links.

Both products let users clip key moments from recordings and share them via links. Bluedot lets users clip important highlights from the web app and share them as standalone links with commenting; the searchable transcript view is the primary way to locate moments. Fathom lets users tag highlights live during a call or post-call from the transcript/recording view, share them as time-stamped links, and bundle multiple clips into playlists for training, voice-of-customer, or testimonial use cases. To migrate from Bluedot to Fathom: recreate playlists manually in Fathom by tagging equivalent moments from new recordings and grouping them under Playlists; there is no bulk import of existing Bluedot clips. To migrate from Fathom to Bluedot: identify key clip timestamps from Fathom's transcript, clip the equivalent moments via Bluedot's sharing panel after re-recording on Bluedot. In either direction, previously shared clip links from the old platform will remain accessible to recipients as long as the old account is active, but should be considered deprecated.
- Warning: Fathom playlists that draw from team-wide meetings require Team Edition; Free and Premium users can only build playlists from their own meetings. Bluedot does not document a team-wide vs. personal clip restriction.
- Warning: Fathom Folders (used to organize and share complete calls within the org) are a Team Edition feature and not available on Free or Premium plans.

Both Bluedot and Fathom auto-push post-call summaries, transcripts, and action items into HubSpot and Salesforce. Bluedot syncs meeting notes and insights to HubSpot and auto-syncs notes, transcripts, and action items to Salesforce; these integrations are gated to the Business plan. Fathom syncs call summaries/notes (as Meeting events), tasks, and recording links to matching Contact and Deal records in HubSpot, and syncs summaries, action items, and selected content as Tasks/Notes onto Contacts, Accounts, and open Opportunities in Salesforce; CRM sync requires Team Edition, and CRM field mapping (custom property sync) requires the Business plan. To migrate from Bluedot to Fathom: in Fathom, connect HubSpot or Salesforce under Settings → Integrations; future recordings will auto-sync without any manual step. To migrate from Fathom to Bluedot: in Bluedot, connect HubSpot or Salesforce from the Integrations page; future meetings will auto-sync on the next recording. In either direction, existing CRM data written by the previous tool stays in the CRM and is not overwritten — only the source of new activity entries changes.
- Warning: Bluedot's CRM integrations (HubSpot, Salesforce) require the Business plan; Fathom's CRM sync requires Team Edition (Team or Business) — migrators on lower-cost plans will lose CRM push entirely.

Both products auto-generate speaker-labeled transcripts and structured AI summaries after every meeting. Bluedot produces summaries in 100+ languages using configurable use-case templates (Q&A, sales notes, customer check-ins, etc.); Fathom offers 15+ templates covering general, sales (BANT, Sandler, SPICED, MEDDPICC), customer success, demo, one-on-one, retrospective, and more. To migrate from Bluedot to Fathom: in Fathom, open Settings → Summary Templates and select the closest matching template (e.g. 'Sales' for Bluedot's sales template); custom per-template instructions are configurable via the gear icon in the web app (not yet in the desktop app). For the reverse (Fathom → Bluedot): in Bluedot, select the matching template from the Templates menu; custom templates are available on Pro and above. Historical transcripts cannot be imported between platforms — only new recordings will generate summaries on the new tool.
